Marketing through tradeable art

Last week, I was researching game card templates while trying to create the ID for my deviantArt account. I’m still without a deviantID, but I stumbled onto the most peculiar thing- Artist Trading Cards (ATCs).

Basically, these cards, roughly the size of a baseball card, have artwork on one side and information on the back. They’re traded with other artists. It’s an interesting way to collect art.

As I sat there thinking about these cards (and how they would apply to an artist who works with three-dimensional media), it occurred to me that these cards help promote networking among artists, and can even be a way to introduce your work to people, to make them aware of you.

I don’t think it would qualify as a business card, but I’m think they might make for an intereting and creative marketing tool…
