Part of trying to find my voice when I write includes trying to capture the sense of humor everyone says I has. In fact, a large part of why I find my own writing so dry is because I can’t hear that aspect of my voice. I did briefly try to research how to inject humor into my writing, but it didn’t help. Thankfully, it didn’t make things worse, either (as reading writing books seems to have ruined my writing instincts).
Hopefully, you’ll find the humor in today’s oneword response:
Ara squinted, trying to make out anything. “How do your people live like this?”
Bauble’s voice floated from the direction of the scuffling sounds Ara slowly inched toward, “What do you mean?”
Of course, he doesn’t think anything’s weird about wandering in the dark! “Have the goblins adapted to the dark?”
“The dark?” Ara heard another scuffling sound, and then she saw a small ball of light. “We use torches down here.”
